For First Friday in September, I took a mini vacation to San Francisco. It was a much needed reprieve taken with my husband and dear friend Jessica. We went to a horse race at Golden Gate Fields and visited with friends.

In my absence a few favorites at the gallery manned the post. This month was the second month for Water Color Places by Duane Anderson.

I’m so thankful for Alan Willis, Diana Campbell-Rice and all those that helped throughout the night. Running a new exhibit truly is a big undertaking and it takes a team of like hearts to pull it off!

On August 2nd, 2013 I curated a show titled Water Color Places by Duane Anderson at The Foundry.
The Artist’s Philosophy: Watercolor painting for me is about RELATIONSHIPS: between the artist and the scene… between the tactile texture of paper and brush between the staining and blending of the paint and, ultimately, between the artist and the viewer.
As for me, “Art” does NOT require a story or agenda other than this sharing of the experiences and resulting impressions of the scene.
This interpretative process of experiencing a three-dimensional subject and translating the experience onto two-dimensional paper involves all the physical, emotional and spiritual senses. They cannot be separated. They cannot be ignored.
Watercolor paint can be a challenging medium. This quality combined with the process and experience of painting is what brings me much pleasure.
This exhibit runs from August through September, 2013 at The Foundry at 1608 19th Street, Bakersfield CA. The art receptions for this exhibit will be held on both First Friday’s August 2nd and September 6th, 2013, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
