My Great Aunt Bonnie lost her dog Dexter last year. He was fatally shot by a peace officer. It was a very sad ordeal… to say the least. This will be delivered to her soon! Fingers crossed she loves it!

A childhood friend of mine lost her oldest best friend Sierra this year. She was a wonderful Rottweiler who had been there for my friend Kim through some really tough times. That special dog was also the last piece of Kim’s relationship with her late husband Jim. The last time I visited with Kim she was visibly shaken from her loss of Sierra. She barely showed a single smile during our visit. It made my heart hurt. For her birthday this month I surprised her with this painting of Sierra. Her husband helped me by hiding a key so I could sneak into her house while she was out with friends for breakfast. She was so happy with the painting. I now hope she uses this painting to bring a smile to her beautiful face.

In June, I helped coordinate a wedding in Paso Robles for my dear friend Katie and her new husband Jordan. The event was beautiful. The wedding backdrop was Still Waters Winery. The lucky couple married standing with the vineyard as their view. As a wedding gift I painted the scene for their new home.

Boy oh boy! Another AMAZING experience at Wine Women and Shoes in Bakersfield, CA October 2015. Every seat was sold. The who’s who of Bakersfield attended with their donations to benefit CASA of Kern County. I painted this piece at the show, which they included in the live auction. My art piece brought in a sizeable number again this year. This is something I look forward to each year. It’s so rewarding to use your talent to help others.

I had a hard time putting together the words of gratitude for the outpouring of support, handshakes and hugs at Latination 2015 in September. Don Martin your speech and Miranda your words to pronounce it made my knees go weak. Tonight I won the first Betty Leonor memorial award for my art piece titled “Pensativa.” I choked back tears as I accepted this award and tried my hardest to express my appreciation not only for the recognition but for the appreciation of our grief of the loss of Betty Leonor. I feel a sense of closure I haven’t felt before. I’m so happy it will go to a home that will love it/her for many years to come. ‪#‎lovingBetty‬ #cancersucks #losttooyoung
