My new studio has plenty of space to spread out and have many stations for the different arts and crafts done by me and the kiddos. I’m happy and comfortable.

This was released appropriately enough 49 years ago to the day from our show opening, December 6th, 1964. Artists were given the choice to create their pieces “misfit” as the program had them or traditional. Do you not remember this classic? You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SH1j1luFOw Artwork by Jesus Fidel.

“Pieces” by Yvonne Cavanagh extended through December. Artwork “It’s Official” by Yvonne Cavanagh1375708_612983415412314_146510736_n

Last but not least we had a window installation showcasing studies by Betty Leonor. You can find her artwork at http://www.bleonor.com/ She is an amazing portrait artist that works in oils and acrylic.

The Foundry closed on January 1st, 2014 after a six month financial struggle to keep the doors open. Our monthly cost went up substantially and we gave it all we had. Looking back a month and a half later, I find myself with “extra” time I didn’t know existed before. I visited Betty’s solo show at Metro Galleries on February’s First Friday event. On one hand it was nice to be able to walk around and visit the artists, but my gallery was dark and sad.

For this group show we challenge artists to create artwork using recycled-out of the ordinary items. This show is one of the favorites! This year we had many different styles. It was a great show.

Our members wall show was Sleepy Hollow. This had a small turn out but the artwork was all really amazing.

My latest painting Wild Run is now owned by a successful business woman here in Bakersfield, California. I’m so pleased it will be enjoyed by a new family.
