My Great Aunt Bonnie lost her dog Dexter last year. He was fatally shot by a peace officer. It was a very sad ordeal… to say the least. This will be delivered to her soon! Fingers crossed she loves it!
A childhood friend of mine lost her oldest best friend Sierra this year. She was a wonderful Rottweiler who had been there for my friend Kim through some really tough times. That special dog was also the last piece of Kim’s relationship with her late husband Jim. The last time I visited with Kim she was visibly shaken from her loss of Sierra. She barely showed a single smile during our visit. It made my heart hurt. For her birthday this month I surprised her with this painting of Sierra. Her husband helped me by hiding a key so I could sneak into her house while she was out with friends for breakfast. She was so happy with the painting. I now hope she uses this painting to bring a smile to her beautiful face.
Boy oh boy! Another AMAZING experience at Wine Women and Shoes in Bakersfield, CA October 2015. Every seat was sold. The who’s who of Bakersfield attended with their donations to benefit CASA of Kern County. I painted this piece at the show, which they included in the live auction. My art piece brought in a sizeable number again this year. This is something I look forward to each year. It’s so rewarding to use your talent to help others.
For Christmas my Realtor, Robbyn, commissioned me to paint on a wooden tray for her mother in law in England. The tray shows their name, family home and small little portraits of the husband and wife and their four kids, and dog Ben. This was a great project. The client was happy with it and off it flew to England. Yes, England. A piece of my art is in England. That is so exciting to me!
Robbyn sent me the short video of her mother in law opening the gift on Christmas morning. The video was very short due to the fact they had to cut it, due to the fact the mother in law starting crying. That made me feel so good. I’m ELATED that this beautiful, thoughtful project made its way across the pond in good shape and meant so much to the recipient.
Did I mention a piece of my art is in England? -wink-
